Online Lessons

Online guitar lessons are a great way to get started on learning a new instrument or even brush up on some old skills.  You may be a complete beginner without a clue of where to start or a college guitar major (or minor) on your summer break and want a fresh viewpoint on a piece you are working on.  In any case, you can learn in the comfort of your own home at your own leisure.

The Lessons:

The lessons are low stress and goal oriented and are conducted in a one-on-one format. Typically, a 30-minute lesson once a week is appropriate for most beginners through intermediate players. More advanced students can choose to have a 45 or 60-minute lessons.  Assignments are clearly set at the end of the lesson so that the student is clear on the goals for the next lesson.

Method:

The lessons are structured in the classical guitar tradition.  By learning classical guitar, you will learn a structured methodology including learn note reading, and proper hand technique and music theory all of which will help maximize your ability to play music and give you a well-rounded learning experience to build a solid musical foundation.  Remember, if you can play classical guitar, you can play anything.  It doesn’t work in reverse.

Scheduling:

Since our adult life is more hectic, scheduling lessons can be difficult, but I try to make it as convenient as possible by giving the student a variety of options for days and times for online lessons.

Tuition:

I always keep lessons affordable and competitive.  A weekly 30-minute private online lessons cost $120 a month. The way I calculate your tuition is I average lessons throughout the year.  I teach 42 lessons throughout the year meaning you may have 3, 4 or 5 lessons in the month depending on if there's a holiday or some other important event families are typically doing something.  Regardless, your tuition stays the same plus there is NO contract.   This tuition structure helps to keep it easy to keep track of your costs.

The Teacher:

As a professional classical guitarist with a Bachelors and Masters degree in classical guitar performance (also with considerable knowledge in flamenco and jazz) with almost 40 years of teaching experience in the private sector and at the collegiate level, I can give you pointers to help you avoid the pitfalls in learning.  (Also see my “About” page).
